Very nice people, but if you have a child that requires a lot of care its tough. There is a difference between behavioral services and a day care.

Always great in taking care of my children, amazing therapists with family sessions as well. They are professional and offer tools to help in addition to therapy and a day program. You truly get what you put into the programs.

I have court-documented joint legal custody of my daughter. My ex wife began taking my daughter to Behaven Kids for therapy without my knowledge. When I found out that my daughter was attending therapy, I called Behaven Kids and respectfully requested information regarding the therapy sessions. I specifically only asked for information regarding my daughter and made clear that anything about my ex wife could be redacted from the record. I was told that they could not release any of my daughter's records because my daughter was not the patient. I asked them if they had seen, or spoken to my daughter and they refused to answer those questions. I kindly reminded them that I have 50/50 legal custody of my daughter and had the right to that information. They fed me a line about children's privacy rights. I let a few weeks pass, then called again to try to get the same information. Again, they declined to tell me anything.Finally, my lawyer sent them a subpoena since my custody trial was pending. Still they did not release any information.However, they DID tell me that if I wanted to come in and pay $145 per hour for therapy that I was welcome to. I feel that this was essentially extortion. They used my position as a father fighting for custody of his daughter to try to make a buck off of me.I understand that there are privacy laws in place, but I have (and had) documented proof of my legal right to my daughter's information.Behaven Kids hid behind the lie that my ex wife was the patient therefore I was not entitled to any of the information from the therapy sessions.Eventually, we obtained the necessary documentation from the therapy sessions as Behaven Kids, but only because my ex wife submitted them as evidence in the trial.If she had not done so, I would still be in the dark as to what took place during those therapy sessions.As it turns out, my daughter WAS being treated and WAS the patient. Every single page of the Behaven Kids document has my daughter's name all over it and describes her treatment and therapy. This baffles me, since my daughter was apparently not the patient.It should be noted that I won my custody case and this complaint is not being filed for revenge.I am very concerned for other parents in my situation who have state-granted legal custody of their children and who are denied access to their children's medical and mental health information.Behaven Kids has shown very little professionalism and has made it clear to me that they will break the law in order to try to make more money.I write this complaint in order to protect parents in the future. I hope that Behaven Kids changes their practices and complies with the law in the future.It should also be noted that the therapist at Behaven Kids filed a complaint with CPS that I was neglecting my daughter. These claims were unfounded and CPS didn't even bother to contact me.Behaven Kids and their employees have zero ethics. They do not care about children, they care about money.
