Client Review on Dogs At Camp

Feedback:

If I could rate less than one stars I would. I chose to send my 1 year old great dane/cane corso to this place and it is the worst decision I have ever made. I thought that with ‘16 years’ of experience that these people could be able to help take care of my pet while I traveled to Europe for 38 days. On the 27th day I received a call from Donna stating that my dog had nipped one of their staff and that I would need to have him picked up IMMEDIATELY. The way she spoke to me on the phone was extremely unprofessional, rude and not sincere at all. My dog has never demonstrated this behaviour ever, went through 6 weeks of obedience training and is very well behaved. Dogs at Camp stated that due to the fact of his lengthy stay, this was the reasoning to him acting out like this which confuses me a little bit because there are many dogs that have stayed with them for eighty days plus.Anyone with ‘16 years experience’ will know very well that yes, a young dog at this age might be stressed out in the environment he/she is in and will need extra tentative care compared to the other dogs being boarded within the facility. They stated to me personally that in the past they have made accommodations to certain dogs allowing them to stay with staff at their residence, etc. I was not expecting this at all from Dogs at Camp but I was at least not wanting to have to fly home early from seeing my father in Germany and having to spend over $700 Canadian to change my flight. My emergency contact had her partner admitted into the hospital during my trip and was unable to take him for me for the remaining week so I was forced to fly home unfortunately. When my mother arrived to pick him up and paid cash, the staff did not even have the proper change to give back to her. My baby also came home with many cuts and scrapes around his body which was very concerning for me. These cuts are larger than an inch and a half and look very sore and painful. The staff had said when my mother picked him up that these wounds were from 'playing' and running through the fields when clearly from their response to this review it was from other dogs. At the end of the day, I really thought that the staff at this facility would be a lot more understanding and caring due to my situation. Dogs do not just lash out and hurt people for no reason. Maybe you need to reconsider the people you are hiring. Are they showing signs of fear because of such a big dog? Was my dog being mistreated? I don’t believe for one minute that my dog acted this way for no apparent reason. As I was not there obviously and could not oversee the environment where my dog was every day, I guess I will never know what really happened to him at camp.** EDIT** After writing my review this establishment emailed me and threatened me that if I did not take my review down they would call animal services on me for false claims that my dog was violent and not acceptable to be in public. They also threatened to sue me!!! DO NOT BRING YOUR DOG HERE!
