Crooks. The Master Franchisor was a professional lawyer before giving up his life's work to buy his "position" with Janpro. They take 20.5% of your check before paying you, and you only get paid once a month. Yes, they hold back a check. So don't expect any return on investment for 2 months. They hardly ever get your check right, so be good at math and keep an eagle eye on your books. They also make you wear THEIR company logo uniform, but you need to register in your hometown, to pay taxes on having YOUR OWN company, usually a DBA. There is probably a clause in the contract or something. Like I said, he was a lawyer, he is very smart and good at what he does. Play ball with them and take the occasional loss, you'll be fine. Speak up against even the littlest thing, and the next thing you know, you may mose everything, as many have, and many will. Then when you realize you got them by the gonads you're hit with the undeniable, cold-hard fact, they have more money than most to draw court out till you run out of accrued capita and assets.
