Client Review on Dr. Energy Saver, LLC

Feedback:

Ever since me moved into our house we wanted to improve its insulation. Our master bedroom was the worst, with three outside walls, an unheated garage below and vaulted ceilings. We called it our "summer bedroom" because we could not stay there for most of the winter and would retreat into one of the spare bedrooms after catching a first cold. On average it was 10 degrees colder than the rest of our house! Our vaulted ceiling had mold growing at the top. Twice I used my 12-ft step ladder to remove the mold with bleach and painted the ceiling with mildew- proof paint only to see the mold come back after 2..3 years. I thought it was happening due to condensation caused by poor insulation, but it turned out that the moist air was entering our bedroom through the ridge vent and vaulted ceiling ridge trim. This also explained cold winter drafts. We saw a lot of ads about spay foam insulation but were concerned about high price and also failed installations with nasty smell remaining in the house. Then, in May 2018 our house was struck by the tornado. A 100-year-old oak tree fell on our roof and went through the vaulted ceiling. We had to replace the ceiling sheetrock and decided to upgrade our old fiberglass bats with closed spray foam with 2x R-value. We contacted Dr. Enery Saver and scheduled an interview with their specialist. The price quote was reasonable. Knowing that they have 30 year experience of working with spray foam and every one of their employees goes through proper training to avoid pitfalls of improper foam installation gave us confidence in the company. Hence, we decided to sign a contract. The installation team was very professional and caring about not damaging our house. They covered all walking areas with cloth and even wore special booties on top of their regular boots as to not damage the hardwood floors. They covered the walls and floors with plastic to prevent them from being sprayed. After the job was finished, they removed all coverings and trash. When I returned to look at their work, I felt that a few areas were undersprayed and I called Dr. Energy Saver. There was no arguing or fighting: the team came out again, covered walls and floors with protective plastic just as meticulously as they did the first time and sprayed the foam where it was missing. To me, it's an indication that Dr. Energy Saver stands by its work not just on paper, but in practice. What about the spray foam itself? It's been a month and my bedroom has a new ceiling. It feels much warmer now, with temperature being within 2 degrees of the rest of my house. I feel no drafts at all because, in addition to having higher insulating R-value, the foam acts as a sealer. As a bonus, mice no longer roam inside the walls because the foam blocked their pathways. I'm pretty confident that my mold problem is also solved, since there is no way for moist air to enter through the ridge vent like it did before.
