Client Review on J. Gumbo's

Feedback:

The restaurant is well-kept and the staff are kind. It was kind of empty when we went in to order, and when we ordered we found out that you're served lunchroom-style where you pick your gumbo and rice and pay at the end of the counter. There is a menu available above that offers more traditional items, but we were being sold on the counter service so we tried that. The gumbo wasn't very tasty and the options were fairly limited (only 4 kinds, 2 spicy, 2 sweet). The spicy options aren't that spicy, and the sweet options are FAR too sweet. Over all, there isn't much real flavor or texture to the food, which was disappointing. I've been to 2 other J Gumbo's and they had a wider selection of menu items, more fair prices, and more tasty food.Unfortunately, I don't think I will be back to this location any time soon.ADDING ADDITIONAL TO REPLY TO OWNER:Yes, I was at the Gahanna location. As per my review, I mentioned "There is a menu above that offers more... but we were being sold on the counter service so we tried that". Because this was a unique experience to what were were used to at the other J Gumbo's we've been to, we wanted to try something different. We visited around midday and were told to try the 4 specialty gumbos being served on the counter. We tried them, and were just not impressed by the flavor of any of the 4 gumbos. I will also add that the Texas toast we were served was crushed and not toasted.
