Client Review on Keyrenter

Feedback:

We rented through Key Renters for 3 years, during that 3 years we had a difficult time getting items properly fixed in a timely manner and once we moved out it has been a joke trying to get our deposit back. If I wrote everything down, this would be one long complaint. So, I will spare you all with that and jump to the point of us finally moving out of this home. Over the course of 3 years we had minor damage to the home, for example paint chipping on the wall, carpet with some stains, nail/tac holes in the walls, but nothing major. The only major issue we had were the doors. The doors where awful. In 2 of the bathrooms the doors were set to open in on one another and you would bang them with the door handles and eventually the door handles went through the doors. In certain rooms the doors were not fitted correctly, and it was very difficult to shut the doors. My wife and I put our hands through the doors a few times. If you pushed on the door in the wrong place, you hand would go through it. When our hand went through the door the first time, we found cardboard strips on the inside of the doors. I mean, they were that bad and very flimsy. My wife and I already knew that we would have to replace the doors because Key Renters wouldn't own up to putting crappy doors into a home or that the doors weren't set right. So, upon moving out we purchased 10 doors. We place 2 doors on but did not have time to do the rest. We notified Key Renters that we purchased the doors but did not place them on because we felt that it would be best for the vendor to do it. The doors were ¼ inch wider then the original doors and just needed to be shaved down. After a few weeks of not receiving our deposit we reached out to Key Renters. We didn't hear anything, again we reached out to them and finally got an answer back. We were given an invoice that the doors cost $192 per door for 8 doors and that the vendor had to do custom made doors. My wife fired backed and asked why they didn't let us know so we could take the doors back. We then received an email back saying that the doors were not custom made but had to be shaved down and re-milled and that cost $192. Well, I didn't by it. I forwarded the correspondences on to an attorney and had him look it over. Nothing about what Ryland Sloat was telling us made sense. We asked Ryland for the number of the vendor because we did not trust doing a conference call, they could easily have someone posing as the vendor. My wife and I contacted multiple vendors, door repair shops, and even other property management companies and each on told us that they are lying to us because that is how much it costs for a custom-made door. I do not believe Key Renters currently. The ironic thing about all of this, is the property management company we are renting from now came and did a quality check on the Key renter's home. They too saw how poorly made the doors where and that Key Renters did not make any sense when they called to get our rental history. Key Renters lies and steals to get what they want. They took all our deposit and nickeled and dimed us. They did not look over our move in sheet to see how bad the home was when we moved in. I mean we got nailed for toilet seats that were nasty and gross when we moved in, we got nailed for the oven burners and covers when they where the originals on when we moved in. The list goes. We took pictures of us moving in and moving out and I am glad we did. I hope whomever rents through this company thinks again and for landlords be careful they do not put quality items in your home. I would never want them to be over one of my properties.
