Eaten by Bed bugs!I checked into the Indianapolis Marriott Downtown hotel, 350 W. Maryland Avenue, Indianapolis Indiana on Wednesday morning, 10/3/2018 to attend a conference. I was assigned room # 1124, it appeared clean, but there was a musty, moisture odor in the room, toilet made a loud squeaky sound (without flushing), there was debris on the closet behind the entry door (& I noticed this because I placed my clothes in closet & scarf slid onto the floor). I reported toilet & they sent plumber right away to fix it, but it delayed my plans. Next day, @ 4:15 p.m., I returned to my room, cleaning lady came to clean, she was friendly enough, but when I told & showed her the debris, she changed her tone & became quite, totally shut down. I asked her not to clean the room because I was tired, but to change one bed's linen (because it appeared it had not been changed & I refused to sleep in it previous night) & pick up the used towels. She immediately said that she had to go and fetch toilet paper because she didn't have any. She was gone for 16 minutes so I called front to inquire of her return. The answerer told me to remove the do not disturb sign from my door & leave it accessible (which I had never touched the door since her departure. She returned 12 minutes after I called & was speaking on her cell phone, she sprayed from a bottle & mopped closet. My feet extended over the foot of bed for previous night, so I requested the bed be pulled from underneath headboard, they never did. I checked out on Sunday morning & was itching badly. I went to airport bathroom & saw that my right upper torso was red with separates insects bites that blended into patches, were swollen & skin very hard, same for left inside forearm, face on right top was also itching. By the time I arrived home in late afternoon, I was terrible with itch. On Tuesday, 10/9, after holiday, I visited Georgetown Hospital to get relief & I was told that I had been bitten by bedbug. They prescribed plenty of medicines. I called front desk manager Haley & reported bedbugs. She told me she'd have a service to check. She called me back 2 days later & told me their service found nothing in the room. So Sad, another person will be itching! I've always loved the Marriott, but so disappointed with this room.

The Residence Inn by Marriott Pensacola Downtown is exceptional!!!From the time Orlando (front desk staff) checked us in - to our departure a week later - everything was perfect! Everyone on staff is congenial, knowledgeable, helpful and genuinely interested in their guests. We especially appreciate Orlando for his help with an issue and for his dining suggestions and we appreciate the manager who accommodated a special request. The breakfast is fabulous in selection, presentation and taste - the breakfast ladies do a wonderful job of always ensuring everything is well stocked and they are very thoughtful and friendly. The rooms are well furnished and every detail thought out. We had a studio and we were happy with comfort, cleanliness, and style. We had no housekeeping during our stay (because of a pet and to help the environment), but the housekeeping staff in the halls were always friendly and happy (unlike many places we stay where housekeeping is often frowning). There are many great restaurants nearby the hotel - from quick eats to fine dining. (Our favorites were cajun, seafood, and thai). And the hotel is only a few miles from the beaches, shopping, and other tourist interests (we were there to visit the Naval Aviation Museum). The hotel has a well maintained lawn with lots of grassy areas to walk the dog - and a wonderful park for dog walking only blocks away. We have stayed at other Marriott properties in USA and the islands and always expect and receive greatest service - but what we experienced at The Residence Inn by Marriott Pensacola Downtown was exceptional!!!

Great facilities and staff

Feedback:

Very nice location however the hotel has no M Club Lounge or Concierge lounge for Platinum Elite members. Also the front desk told me that since they don’t have an M Club I only had to pay 5 dollars for breakfast which is normally free anyways for Platinum members visiting other locations WITH an M Club. To be fair this benefit is offered based on location, but out of the hundreds of Marriotts I have visited I have never had to pay for breakfast as a Platinum Elite member. The breakfast here was great. Normal Marriott fair with eggs and omelets cooked to order. The potatoes had no taste though. The rooms are where this location wins out. My room was updated and pleasant to stay in. Plenty of extra plugs for my electronics and devices.

NIGHTMARE EXPERIENCE- Marriott Marquis Atlanta. WARNING - do not stay in room 4309. My husband got insect bites all over his bum, back and the back of his arms and legs while sitting on the sofa. We know it was a bedbug because the next day, while he was shaving, one was on his neck biting him. We saw it before it got washed down the sink. When we told the front desk about it, they said they needed proof!!! I am a PhD scientist who was at a conference in Atlanta. We paid close to $1000 for the horror of staying in this hotel, and then they chose not to believe us? I wasn't looking for compensation, but wanted them to take the problem seriously. Now we are dealing with the fact that our luggage and clothing may be infested. There were other less impactful problems, like the shower not draining, and the fact that the only available electrical outlets were behind (the bug-infested) couch and virtually impossible to reach. The sheets were not changed while we were there and they smelled of mildew.I've been a Marriott rewards member for years. After this, I will be reluctant to ever stay in one again.I'd give this hotel a minus 5 if there were a button. Avoid if you can!
